Paintings to be looked at for more than 10 seconds: Indonesian Paintings I
18 January - 24 Febuary 2013, Main Gallery & Project Room
What makes a good painting? How do you know that a painting is a good one? One definition is something that you can look at for more than ten seconds - that a good painting is one you want to come back to again and again - and each time you look again you discover new things. Indonesian paintings often have strong, powerful images, but they are often complex and subtle. This exhibition of recent paintings by Indonesian painters will seek to show that.
Paintings to be looked at for more than ten seconds feature works by Arahmaiani, Dadang Christanto, Heri Dono, Arin Dwihartanto, Eddie Hara, F.X. Harsono, M. Irfan, J. Ariadhitya Pramuhendra, and Agus Suwage; and is curated by Tony Godfrey.
